Dear Father, it has been reported that the Russian and Iranian backed Syrian government attacked Syrian rebels on Saturday in the town of Douma. Forty were killed in the chemical attack and over 500 were injured, mostly women and children. The injured were said to be having difficulties breathing. The attack is said to have broken the resolve of the rebels. They surrendered and boarded buses to be relocated to other areas controlled by Syrian rebels. President Trump expressed his anger with the Syrian regime, calling Bashar al-Assad an “animal”. Last evening, a Syrian air base was attacked by missiles. 14 were killed including Iranians. The U.S. has denied responsibility. The Russians and Syrians blame Israel, citing the Israeli concern for Iranians establishing military bases in Syria. Father, I ask for Your grace, mercy, compassion, and generosity to pour into the lives of those who were injured in the chemical attack and in the missile attack. Restore the injured to health. Help them to emotionally heal from the trauma of the attacks. I ask that You will also attend to those who grieve loved ones who were killed in the attack. Father, I ask that You will use this tragedy to draw each survivor into a personal relationship with You. I pray that You will transform hearts and minds. I ask that You will create testimonies of Your amazing love. Turn this evil into a good. I do ask that You will protect innocent civilians today in Syria. Enable them to escape before an attack or may an attack mysteriously fail to hit its intended target. Father, in the larger war, I ask for You to bring about a resolution. Move among the leaders of Russia, Iran, Syria, and the U.S. so that there can be a just end to this civil war in Syrian.
Dear Father, Ekaterina Fedyaeva was a 27 year old Russian woman who was mistakenly given embalming fluid in a hospital while she was recovering from routine surgery. The formaldehyde-based embalming fluid, used to slow the decomposition of corpses, burned through her internal organs. It has been reported that she was in tremendous pain until she finally lapsed into a coma before she died of heart and lung failure. Her mother, Galina Baryshnikova, has accused the hospital of murder. A criminal investigation is now underway. Father, I ask that justice will be served in this case. If any medical personnel were criminally negligent, I ask that they will receive appropriate punishment. If this was simply a case of human error, I ask that steps are taken to prevent this from happening again in any hospital around the world. May the medical community learn from this experience. Father, I pray for Galina and all of those who mourn for Ekaterina. Please comfort them. Meet their every need. Walk with them through their grief. Use this horrific tragedy to bring each of them into a personal relationship with You. I also ask for Your compassion to be extended to the medical professionals who may feel guilt for what happened to Ekaterina. I pray that they will experience life-changing forgiveness and a peace which passes all understanding. Amen.
Dear Father, Patrick Reed, 27, won the PBA 2018 Masters Tournament in Augusta, GA. He scored a -15 for the four rounds of golf, finishing one stroke ahead of the runner-up. He won $ 1.98 million and is now ranked 11th in the world. His victory is tainted due to his reputation for misbehavior and conflict. He was accused of cheating in college and was alienated from his teammates. Reported to be a partier, he was arrested for underage drinking. He taunted a crowd watching him play in Europe and needed to be escorted off the course by police. He has an estranged relationship with his parents and his sister after he accused his parents of child abuse. He married his former caddy and his wife Justine has now given birth to a daughter and a son. Father, if these reports about Patrick are true, it sounds like he is deeply hurting inside. He needs comfort that can only come from You. While this championship victory will give him joy for a season, the thrill of the victory will pass and the brokenness in his life will resurface. Father, transform his heart and soul. Lead him into personal relationship with You. I ask that he, his wife Justine, and their two children will one day share their testimonies of how Christ brought them new life. I pray for his parents and his sister. Minister to their spiritual and emotional needs today. I pray that You will also be generous and compassionate to them. Father, nothing is impossible with You – including the family being restored. Please make that happen so we all can see Your power to heal. Amen.
