The Daily Mail ran an article January 24, 2018 about the liberation of Buchenwald concentration camp. Approximately 60,000 people were slaughtered in that hell-hole. Within days of the liberation, German citizens in the surrounding communities were forced by the Allies to walk through the camp and observe the putrid stench and ghastly remains of Nazi ideology.
In the middle of reading that article, my computer notified me an email came in. It was the latest study from the Barna Group entitled “Atheism Doubles Among Generation Z“.
Before I go further, I must say I was bitten a few years ago. Infected. I hopefully have an “incurable disease”. I’m obsessed with the importance of believers sharing their testimony of God’s love to a hurting world. It distorts my senses. Everything I see and hear is tainted by this passion. I see, hear, smell, taste, and touch the need for testimonies in situations where others sense nothing at all.
According to the Barna study:
Sigh. Let me take a moment to understand this. The unchurched have just shared the secret for how they can come to faith.
It’s called “testimony-sharing”.
However, we ignore that. Instead, horrible things go on in this world and the testimonies of the church remain silent. I’m reminded again of the Buchenwald concentration camp article I was reading earlier today. I hope God doesn’t walk His church past the remains of lives that could have been rescued by testimonies.
