Dear Father, Silicon Valley is the region surrounding San Jose, CA, a major city southeast of San Francisco, CA. It is the home of such tech giants as Adobe Systems, Alphabet, Apple, Cisco Systems, eBay, Electronic Arts, Facebook, HP, Intel, Intuit, National Semiconductor, Netflix, Oracle, Salesforce, Symantec, and Yahoo. Other firms like Twitter, Uber, PayPal, Lucasfilm, and Amazon have a strong presence in the region. Father, these companies, as well as the thousands of startups and midsize tech companies nearby, have changed the way Americans communicate, engage with others socially, get information, and enjoy entertainment. It is their innovations that drive our economy and their values that transforms our culture. According to reports, the influencers in the region value progressive secularism and traditional morals. They have become caricatures for what happens when extreme wealth beds with unbounded human pride and the unrestrained pursuit of pleasure. Many truly believe themselves to be gods who have the power to control the masses. Father, I am certain there are many God-fearing men and women who find themselves employed in the Silicon Valley. I lift them up this very day. Strengthen their walk with You. Embolden their faith. May the Holy Spirit give them an ever strengthening testimony of love, joy, peace, patience, gentleness, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, and self-control. Father, use these believers to demonstrate the life-changing love of Christ to their hurting employers and co-workers. Protect them from being persecuted for their beliefs and convictions. Protect them from temptation. Give them success in their work. Father, after reading an article this morning about the pure decadence at Silicon Valley parties, I ask for this today – target five of the most powerful and godless leaders in Silicon Valley and orchestrate events so that they come to faith in Jesus Christ. May these five individuals become outspoken believers in Jesus Christ in the 2020s, refocusing their wealth, power, and influence to advance the work of Your church. You can do all things Father. I look forward to the news of how You have changed the lives of the high and mighty. Amen
Dear Father, a blizzard is forecasted for New England in the next 48 hours. Over a foot of snow is expected along with 60 to 70 mph winds. After the storm leaves the region, the residents will be digging out in near zero degree high temperatures. Father, I can’t speak for “global warming”. However, I know that Psalm 147:16 tell us that is You who sends the snow. You have purposes in this storm and whatever hardships people may experience because of it. I have no doubt that the timing of this blizzard will be mysteriously beneficial to individuals and families. For example, there’s a couple out there who may be on the verge of breaking up. However, the storm is going to prevent one of the two from leaving, giving them some extra time to talk. Father, use this storm to save that relationship! Use this storm to save that marriage! Father, do all kinds of good in this storm, protecting people, rescuing people, and providing for people. May we hear many reports of how You led people to perform acts of kindness for their neighbors in need. Father, watch over and protect those who love You. Amen.
Dear Father, former Congresswoman Michelle Bachmann is considering running for the Senate seat in Minnesota that was vacated by former Senator Al Franken. When Michelle was in the US House of Representatives from 2007 through 2015, she became a leading advocate for the Tea Party movement. She has experienced the divorce of her parents and a miscarriage, the latter leading to her pro-life views. She and her husband, the parents of five children, have been Christian counselors and have parented 23 foster children. She has advocated for conservative political policies during her years in politics, receiving much criticism from both the liberal media and liberal politicians. In 2018, she is said to be seeking Your will – should she venture back into politics after a three year sabbattical. Father, I ask that You give her Your wisdom. Answer her prayers. Tell her what Your will is through the godly mentors she trusts. May her family and close friends support the decision to put upon her heart. If You call her into public service again and she is elected, I ask that she defend the right of Your church to show acts of kindness to and share Your love with people in need. Amen.
